Complaining Changes Nothing.
We experienced a 30 degree drop in temperature and I can’t seem to warm up my nose!
Standing in front of our fireplace to warm up doesn’t help because our fireplace doesn’t put off heat.
Yep, you read that right. 🤦♀️
Patrick discovered that his fireplace doesn't emit heat the first winter he moved into his brand new home that he designed.
The builders explained that the fireplace was "for decorative purposes only."
Who spends extra money on a gas fireplace for it to not help warm the house?
Ugh. It’s annoying.
And for two years, both Patrick and I have complained about it.
And complained about it.
And complained about it.
We’ve even joked that our next house will have a working fireplace. Maybe even two!
As I stood in front of it early this morning, irritated, I wanted to complain.
That’s when I remembered this simple truth: Nothing changes if nothing changes.
Here are my options:
Keep complaining.
Delay my happiness until the next house that may or may never happen.
Or, have someone to come look at it...maybe the fire department? Are there fireplace repair people? I'll Google it!
Where in your life are you complaining without doing something about it?
Complaining is easy, friend.
Choosing intentional action is hard. It goes against our negativity bias.
FYI - you can do HARD things!!
Patrick doesn’t have to wait until sometime in the future when he gets a different house to enjoy a fireplace.
And you don’t have to wait to be happy when
…your boss finally retires.
…your husband gets his act together.
…you start making more money.
...your social post goes viral.
…your kids are out of diapers.
You can CHOOSE happiness now.
