Living Life on Your Terms.
A few years ago, I bought a custom suit.
If you’ve been around long enough, you may remember the story of my suit.
If not, email me and I'll tell you how a suit led to a paid speaking gig. It was manifesting at its finest!
That being said, have you ever had custom clothing made?
You get to choose literally EVERYTHING!
The fabric. The color of stitching. The shape of the collar. The lining. The number of button hole and the buttons themselves.
Literally so many decisions went into my suit.
I kept asking my friend Lauren, the owner of William & Lauren, what she wanted because I was so overwhelmed.
The conversation went something like this:
Lauren: What color of thread to you want?
Me: I don’t care. What do you think would look good with the fabric?
Lauren: What shape of lapel do you want?
Me: I don’t know. What do you recommend?
Lauren: Which buttons do you prefer?
Me: Which do you like?
Do you see a pattern here?
While I do like my suit, I ended up creating a suit based on the choices she preferred.
However, Lauren doesn’t have to wear the suit. I do.
The same is true for you, friend.
Where are you living based on someone else’s expectations?
Someone you trusted told you to do this or go there.
Take this job. Ask for this salary. Stop doing business with them. Go to church here. Donate to this cause.
And because you love the person and value their opinion, you did it.
If you’re not careful, you’ll end up living a life based on everyone’s desires except your own.
And the reality is, that other person doesn’t have to live with the positive and negative repercussions of those choices.
You do.
Learning to trust your choices is imperative to creating and living a life YOU love.
Does this mean never asking for another person’s opinion? Probably not.
The difference is discerning whether their choice feels right for you too and feel confident in saying so.
In December, I’m launching The Mindset Reset, an 8-week program designed to help you trust your choices.
What that means for you is consciously making decisions on how you live YOUR LIFE.
The real value is wearing that custom suit with pride knowing it represents who the woman you’re becoming.
Living life on your terms is what you want isn’t it?
I had a client thank me for helping her “untangle” her brain.
She learned to distinguish her voice from that of others, which sparked a love and passion for herself that she hadn’t experienced in years.
From there, she set up boundaries, said “no” to opportunities others wanted her to take and moved out of state to chase a dream.
She’s loving life her life again.
And, you can, too.
