Playing Big.
As you may have heard, I did this little thing last week. It was called quitting my job. Remember that? Well, everyone wants to know what’s next. Now that the cat’s out of the bag, I’m happy to share my upcoming plans with you.
I’m taking a year’s sabbatical to explore entrepreneurial opportunities that take me overseas for the next year. I’m starting my adventure in Spain in mid-September and then it’s on to Greece in October where I’ll be doing my yoga teacher training. From there, I’ll be planning yoga retreats abroad, doing research for others and who knows what else.
My hope is to stay in 12 countries in 12 months. Which countries you ask? Great question! At the moment it’s Spain, Greece, France, Germany, England, Ireland, India, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Costa Rica and Canada. Plans change though, so I’m remaining open to other options!
For the last two years, I’ve felt this call on my heart to sell everything and travel overseas. In January, I told my coach that I was tired of playing small. I had big hopes, big dreams and big plans for my life. I knew then that the time was coming to once again step outside my comfort zone and grow. Earlier this year, the call got stronger and more frequent. Opportunities began to fall into place and I knew the time was finally right. So that’s exactly what I’m doing.
Today, on the way home from church, I heard the song Different by Micah Tyler. The lyrics caught my attention because they so accurately described the feelings that have been on my heart as of late. It’s a feeling and a sensation I can’t begin to explain. And like always, I cried big fat alligator tears as I listened to the song that called to my heart. (I tend to cry happy tears a lot. I’m okay with that!)
So here’s to taking a leap of faith, chasing dreams and enjoying the adventure without knowing exactly where it will take me. God has big plans for me and I’m listening. Follow along and enjoy the ride. It’s sure to be emotional!
Different, by Micah Tyler
I don’t wanna hear anymore, teach me to listen
I don’t wanna see anymore, give me a vision
That you could move this heart, to be set apart
I don’t need to recognize, the man in the mirror
And I don’t wanna trade Your plan, for something familiar
I can’t waste a day, I can’t stay the same
I wanna be different
I wanna be changed
‘Til all of me is gone
And all that remains
Is a fire so bright
The whole world can see
That there’s something different
So come and be different
In me
And I don’t wanna spend my life, stuck in a pattern
And I don’t wanna gain this world but lose what matters
And so I’m giving up, everything because
I wanna be different
I wanna be changed
‘Til all of me is gone
And all that remains
Is a fire so bright
The whole world can see
That there’s something different
So come and be different; oh-oh
I know, that I am far, from perfect
But through You, the cross still says, I’m worth it
So take this beating in my heart and
Come and finish what You started
When they see me, let them see You
‘Cause I just wanna be different, ye-ey
I wanna be different
I wanna be changed
‘Til all of me is gone
And all that remains
Oh is a fire so bright
The whole world can see
That there’s something different
So come and be different
I just wanna be different
So could You be different
In me
