Goodbye Winter. Hello Spring.
Dearest Winter,
Last Sunday, I woke up in a panic thinking I wouldn’t have time to tackle my to-do list for the day. But alas, I did. It was as if time slowed for me to enjoy my Sunday Funday. The sun hung a little longer in the sky than the previous day. The temperatures were warm upon my skin. The tulips were a plenty. Spring was in the air. She’s been knocking at my door and I’ve got to let her in.
This isn’t goodbye, Winter. Rather, thank you for stopping in and I’ll see you again next year. Thank you for your dark days and lessons learned. Thank you for your celebrations and family gatherings. Thank you for your laughter and more so for your tears. Thank you for being you. You were a season in my life that was necessary. Seeds had been planted in me long before you came, and they needed the time and space you provided to be nourished. To be loved. But now, now it’s time to move on.
It’s time for Spring and all the new life she brings. A time to bloom and grow. A time for longer days and warmer temperatures. A time for new adventures. There is a sense of excitement in the air as I think of all this Spring has to offer – the vibrant colors, songs of birds returning from their winter break, the smell of the freshly cut grass. All signs of new life. New growth. I’m in a season of becoming, and Spring is my muse.
Yes Winter, I will hold you dear. But Spring, well, I’m welcoming her with open arms.
