Taking Drastic Measures

My niece recently PRed.

If you're wondering what PR means, you're not alone!

My bachelor's degree is in public relations (PR), but that not what the cool kids are talking about these days.

PR stands for personal record which, in the cross country world, is a runner's fastest time at a specific distance.

While my niece’s time has been improving all season, she hadn't yet beat her 5k record from the end of last season.

Everything changed when she did something drastic on Sunday.

A mere 18 hours after she stood by my side on my wedding day, my niece chopped more than 9" off her hair.

She has good reason for doing it.

While getting ready for the wedding, the stylist fussed over her hair for an hour.

Sicily's hair wouldn’t hold a curl to save her life. And bobby pins - forget about them. 😫

No amount of TRESemme Extra Hold hair spray would do the trick.

After trying everything, the stylist moved to plan C - a slick, straight, high ponytail which, coupled with her dress and makeup, made my niece look waaaaaay older than she is.

The hairstylist told Sicily that her hair was too heavy.

The inches of dead weight were weighing it down and preventing it from looking full and lush.

Following the stylist's advice, my niece didn't hesitate to remove the unnecessary length.

Two days later, she beat her personal best in cross country by 1:24 seconds!

Let me repeat that - she shaved ONE MINUTE, 24 SECONDS off her time.

Most runners beat their last PR by seconds.

My sister and I joked she should've taken drastic measures sooner!

That's what 99% of coaching clients say to me as well. They wished they hadn't waited so long to take action. To take back their life.

Now is as good a time as any.

So I ask you - where is dead weight holding you back?

What old beliefs, habits and opinions (aka dead weight) are keeping you from living your fullest, lushest life?

  • Because of them, you second guess yourself.

  • Because of them, you don’t make the first move.

  • Because of them, you don’t take the next step.

  • Because of them, you feel tired. Lethargic. Exhausted.

  • Because of them, you don’t smile at yourself in the mirror any more.

It’s time to let go of what’s been holding you back.

It isn’t serving you in this season.

Imagine feeling lighter. Experiencing more freedom. Being quicker to say YES! And smiling so much your cheeks hurt.

That was my niece after her race.

That can be you today. Tomorrow. Next week.

You simply have to let go and release the grip you have on the thing that holds you back.

Coaching helps you do that.

When you’re ready to obliterate that dead weight and find more freedom in your day, I’m here to help you.

Book a call to see what’s possible for you.
